Labour organisations will observe Bharat Bandh to pressure the government to increase the minimum monthly salary to Rs 26,000 and restore the old pension scheme. Employee organisations have been making these demands for a long time, but the government has not taken a final decision yet.

After the announcement of Bharat Bandh by labour organisations, the support of the United Kisan Organisation has also been received. An official of a labour organisation said on Tuesday that services in sectors like banking, insurance, postal, coal mining, highways and construction are likely to be affected due to the general strike.

Farmers will also raise their voices by participating in Bharat Bandh. Central labour organisations like CITU, INTUC, and AITUC will demand the removal of four labour codes, privatisation of public sector undertakings, and abolition of the contract system. Farmers are insisting on the demand for MSP and loans from organisations. Along with this, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, has refused to participate in the general strike, calling it politically motivated.

Main demands in Bharat Bandh

New recruitments should be organised to reduce unemployment.

Along with the youth getting jobs, the re-recruitment of retired people should be banned.

Wages and the number of days of MNREGA should be increased.

A scheme like MNREGA should also be implemented for the urban unemployed.
Privatisation, contract-based jobs and outsourcing should be banned.
The four labour codes that take away the rights of employees should be abolished.
Expenditure on basic needs like education, health and ration should be increased.
The government has not organised an annual labour conference for 10 years.
