Mahindra Thar 5-Door 2025 : After the Mahindra made the 3-door Thar, several people opined that it was wonderful, but slightly small for family outings. It is practically those few off-roaders who sometimes take the family or friends out that need a little more room. So Mahindra decided to take this model out as a 5-door. Set to be called “Thar 5-door” or “Thar Roxx,” this model will be an extended version of the old Thar with two extra doors and various upgraded interior features.
Expectations of the new look
The biggest change will be the increase of the wheelbase: The 5-door Thar is going to be longer, so that there is comfort for rear-seat passengers.
With minor updates to design. Will come full-LED headlamps, new LED DRLs, slightly different front grille design, bigger alloy wheels.
Interior upgrades include bigger infotainment screen, a digital display cluster, rear AC vents, possibly dual-zone climate control, a premium upholstery
package.
And the features list goes on with 360-degree camera, ADAS giving the 3rd degree (on higher variants), six airbags, front parking sensors, wireless phone charging.
Another option will be RWD/4WD variants. Manual and automatic both are expected.
Engine and performance details
Expected engines will be three main variants: entry-level 1.5 liters diesel, 2.2 liters diesel, and 2.0 liters turbo petrol.
Transmission options likely will be manual & automatic; there will be a 4×4 option, particularly for the top model.
Maintenance in the off-road segment will include suspension tuning, improvement in ground clearance, stronger shafting, etc.
Launch date and price expectations
Launch date: Mahindra has said that the launch of the SUV is expected on August 15, 2025.
Expected price (EX-SHOWROOM): Starting from about ₹15 lakh for the base variant. While the top-spec + 4×4 + automatic variants might be around ₹20 lakh.
This will be priced higher than the 3-door model of the Thar, as the gutsy new features + extra doors + a bigger size will add to the cost.
Opinion: Who would like this
In my opinion, this Thar is a great deal for people who want to enjoy off-road and at the same time require it for daily running with family and friends. It will become much easier for long trips, traveling, and trip-wise since the rear will be much better sitting arrangement and able to carry things much better.
