MCD launched a user-friendly property tax calculator, which helps citizens to calculate tax easily. Rs 304 crore has been recovered through the ‘Suniyon’ scheme.
New Delhi. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a user-friendly property tax calculator for the convenience of the people. Now property owners can calculate their tax directly without logging into the app or relying on middlemen.
According to MCD officials, this calculator is available in the property tax section of the official portal. Here citizens can easily find out the amount of tax by entering only basic details such as cover area (sqm), year of construction, use of property (residential/commercial), type of construction and whether the property is self-occupied or rented. Not only this, if the user wants, he can also download the PDF of his calculation, which will help at the time of payment.
A step towards digital transparency
MCD says that with this tool, taxpayers will get transparent information and they will not be dependent on others. This will make the process fast, easy and hassle-free. A helpdesk is also available for this on the MCD website where people can get any kind of help.
Income increased from ‘Suniyon’ scheme
Property tax is the biggest source of income for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. To strengthen this, this year the corporation has also started ‘Suniyon’ (Property Tax Settlement Scheme), which will run till 30 September. Under this scheme, MCD has recovered more than Rs 304 crore in just three months. Figures show that in the first three months of the scheme, 1,02,142 taxpayers have made the payment.
