Rain Warning in These States
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, heavy rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. A rain warning has also been issued for the plains from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD predicts that snowfall may occur in the Kashmir Valley and the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh on January 27th. Besides these areas, light to moderate rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh.
Thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 40 to 60 kilometres per hour are also possible. Hail is also expected in some areas. The IMD has issued Yellow and Red alerts for several states.
Weather in the Plains
The Indian Meteorological Department predicts scattered to light to moderate rain in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Strong winds with thunderstorms are also expected.
Lightning and winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are also possible in Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The IMD also predicts that rain may continue in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on January 27th and 28th. Meanwhile, light rain and lightning are expected in some parts of Madhya Pradesh on January 27 and 28.

Hailstorm and Cold Wave Effects
The IMD has issued a hailstorm warning for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on January 27. A cold wave is also expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab, with cold wave conditions possible in some areas.
