July 16, 2026 – Thursday- Banks will remain closed in Odisha, Manipur and Uttarakhand due to Rath Yatra, Kang Rathjatra and Harela festival. The Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra celebrated in Puri, Odisha is one of the largest chariot festivals in the world. In this, huge wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra are pulled from the main temple to the Gundicha Temple. This is one of the major festivals celebrated in Odisha. Kang Rath Jatra is a major Hindu festival in Manipur. It is also considered the Manipuri version of the Rath Yatra of Odisha. The Meitei community pulls the chariot dedicated to Lord Jagannath, also known as Kang Chingba.

U Tirot Sing Syiem was the Khasi king of the Nongkhlaw area in the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya in the early 19th century. He was one of the country’s earliest freedom fighters. July 25 – Fourth Saturday- Banks remain closed in all the states of the country on the fourth Saturday.
July 26 – Sunday- Banks will remain closed on Sunday due to weekly holiday.
