EPFO: Big news for EPFO members. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has initiated the process of transferring interest payments to subscribers’ accounts for the financial year 2025-26. The government had approved an 8.25% interest rate on EPF deposits, benefiting millions of subscribers. While some subscribers have already received notifications, others are yet to be informed.
EPFO has started transferring interest payments to subscribers in phases, causing some subscribers to be concerned about the delay. However, experts assure that the remaining subscribers will receive their interest payments soon. The funds are being transferred gradually, so it may take some time for all subscribers to see the amount reflected in their accounts.

If subscribers have not received their interest payments yet, they are advised not to worry. They will receive an SMS notification once the transfer is completed. In case of any discrepancies, subscribers can file a complaint through EPFO’s online grievance redressal portal or contact their regional office for assistance.
The interest for the entire financial year is transferred in one installment to subscribers’ EPF accounts. This year, EPFO has expedited the process of transferring interest payments compared to the previous year. Subscribers should remain patient if they have not yet received their interest payments, and if needed, they can raise a complaint through the EPFO website.

Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje informed the Lok Sabha about this on July 27. Responding to a question from Lok Sabha member VK Sreekandan, Karandlaje said that the EPFO has launched a secure digital platform that allows EPFO subscribers to track their old, inactive EPF accounts.
Employees will be able to see their entire service history on the portal.
This EPFO facility allows employees to check whether their EPF accounts from previous jobs have been merged under a single UAN. This requires Aadhaar-based authentication. This means that the old accounts must be linked to Aadhaar. This feature will allow employees to view their entire service history.
There will be no need for physical documentation
The government’s goal is to allow employees to track their old EPF accounts online. Karandlaje explained that using the new portal will reduce human intervention, eliminating the need for physical documents, and significantly reduce the overall process time. The system is transparent.
