Bank Holidays This Week: Major news for bank customers. If you have any significant banking tasks to handle this week, make sure to check the RBI holiday schedule before heading out. Both public and private sector banks, including SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and PNB, will be closed for two days in various regions across the country this week.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s official holiday calendar, bank branches will be closed this week in observance of Independence Day and regional festivals.

When will banks be closed this week?
This week, banks will only be open for 4 to 5 days in different states:
August 13 (Thursday) – Patriots’ Day: All banks in Manipur will be closed on August 13 to honor the brave martyrs of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.
August 15 (Saturday) – Independence Day and Parsi New Year: August 15 is a national holiday for Independence Day. As such, both public and private banks will be entirely closed across India. The Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi) will also be celebrated on this day.
Since August 16 falls on a Sunday, banks nationwide will observe their weekly holiday.
When will banks be closed in August?
In addition to August 15, there are several other festivals and weekends when banks will be closed this month:
August 19 (Wednesday): Banks will be closed only in Tripura to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

August 25 (Tuesday): Banks will be closed in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh for Milad-un-Nabi, the first Onam, and Milad-e-Sharif.
August 26 (Wednesday): Banks will be closed in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, and Kerala for Eid-e-Milad, Barahvafat, and Thiruvonam.
August 28 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

These online services will remain operational even during holidays
Despite the bank holiday, customers will continue to enjoy digital banking services. Net banking, mobile banking apps, UPI services, and ATMs will remain operational 24×7. You can transact money without interruption through Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or net banking. For branch-related services like check clearance, passbook updates, or cash deposits/withdrawals, you will need to wait for the bank to reopen.
