IMF Approves 1 Billion Loan for Pakistan; India Warns Against Terror Financing

IMF Loan to Pakistan: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced a bailout package of $1 billion to Pakistan. The Office (PMO) of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced this. Shahbaz Sharif’s office said that the IMF on Friday (May 9, 2025) approved an immediate amount of about $1 billion to Pakistan under the existing extended fund facility.

India said that Pakistan can use loan financing for cross-border terrorism. Pakistan has repeatedly taken loans from the IMF. If the previous assistance were successful, Pakistan would not have needed to take out loans. India also said that Pakistan’s army interferes in economic matters.

According to a statement issued by the PMO, “Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the approval of a $1 billion instalment for Pakistan by the IMF and India’s failure to act arbitrarily against it. The statement said that Pakistan’s economic condition has improved and the country is moving towards development.

On the other hand, Pakistan has dared to attack India with a drone for the third consecutive day. First, there are reports of explosions in Jaisalmer, then Amritsar and now in Ferozepur, due to an atmosphere of panic in the area. According to news agency ANI, a Pakistani drone directly targeted a residential area in Punjab’s Ferozepur. An entire family has been badly injured in this cowardly attack.
