Bihar Universities New Professional courses: A big change is going to happen in the higher education sector of Bihar. 7 new professional courses will be started soon in the state universities. These include subjects like banking, e-commerce, creative writing, health care and digital electronics. This is a great opportunity for the youth of Bihar.

These courses will be part of the 4-year degree program and will be conducted under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Know here all the important details about these 7 new professional courses going to be started in the universities of Bihar.

Will be conducted on the basis of NEP 2020

The format of these courses has been prepared under the New Education Policy 2020 and UGC guidelines. The study of these new courses will be completed in four years, which will have a total of 8 semesters. 20 credit marks are fixed for each semester. This means that students will be able to complete their degree with a total of 160 credits. This format has been completely prepared by the Education Department and now it will be sent to the Raj Bhavan for approval. It will be implemented as soon as permission is received.

Will start as a pilot project

Initially, all these courses will be conducted as a pilot project in some selected colleges of the state. If the students show interest in it and there is good feedback about them, then these courses will be started in other colleges of Bihar as well.

Stipend will be given during internship

Out of the 7 proposed courses, 4 courses are of commerce. At the same time, one each is related to arts, science and digital technology. The special thing about these courses is that in the final year, students will be given internship in the industry. During this, they will also be given a stipend of Rs 15,000 to 17,000. Internship will be arranged through the Board of Practical Training (BOPT), Eastern Region, Kolkata.

Will get recognition at national-international level

All these courses have been designed under the new National Education Policy 2020 and as per the guidelines of UGC. After getting recognition from the concerned universities, their degrees will be valid both in the country and abroad. Students will get professional degree along with graduation, so that they will not need to do a separate course further.

At present, there is no provision of permanent teachers for these new courses, but if needed, the help of guest faculty will be taken. In UG classes, assistant professors of the related subject will take classes of these courses.

Courses will be updated according to the job market

Former Vice Chancellor of Munger University and UGC expert Dr. RK Verma says, “These courses will be very beneficial for the students and will increase their employment opportunities. But, it is necessary that posts of specialist teachers should also be created to conduct these courses.”

Decreasing interest in old courses

In the last few years, students’ interest in the old professional courses running in universities had decreased, because they were not in line with the demand of the job market. In such a situation, the need to start new, skill-based and industry-friendly courses was being felt for a long time.
