According to the IMD, a cold wave is likely to occur in eastern, central, and northern peninsular India between December 10-12, 2025. The Meteorological Department also predicts dense fog in isolated areas of Manipur and Assam between December 10-13, 2025. Similar weather conditions are expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

The Meteorological Department has issued a dense fog alert for 15 cities in northern India: Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Amritsar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Tundla, Shimla, Kufri, Keylong, Lahaul Spiti, Faridkot, Roop Nagar, Mussoorie, and Nainital. In addition, light fog is expected in Delhi. The Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in the capital on December 11, 2025.
Cold weather worsens conditions in these states
The states of Haryana and Punjab are also experiencing severe cold these days. Additionally, temperatures of 9.2 degrees Celsius were recorded in Ludhiana, 6.1 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, and 10.1 degrees Celsius in Patiala. The cold wave has also intensified in Haryana, with temperatures in Rohtak, Bhiwani, Sirsa, and Narnaul dropping below 10 degrees Celsius.

The mountains are experiencing severe cold these days. Heavy snowfall has exacerbated this problem in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The minimum temperature in Srinagar has dropped to 0-3.7 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Kupwara and Qazigund has dropped to 3.6 degrees Celsius. Himachal Pradesh is also experiencing heavy snowfall in the higher elevations, making the weather even colder. Snowfall is also being observed in many areas of Uttarakhand.
