New Delhi: The weather pattern across various regions of India appears to be shifting once again, a development that could exacerbate difficulties for the public. In several areas, gusts of wind reaching speeds of up to 75 kilometres per hour are anticipated. Trouble looms once more over 12 states—including Punjab, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh—where spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms are expected.
Thanks to this rainfall, the month of March may now offer a respite from the rising heat. Farmers in parts of Eastern India have been advised to exercise caution in light of the possibility of lightning strikes. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 12 states. Details regarding the specific weather conditions expected in each region can be found below.

Warnings for Thunderstorms and Rain in These States
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Additionally, alerts for heavy downpours have been issued for various parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There is a possibility of rain in several locations across Delhi on March 26.
During this period, thunder is expected, along with winds gusting at speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. According to the IMD, a rain alert has been issued for several districts in Uttar Pradesh for March 27, with warnings of winds blowing at speeds ranging from 30 to 50 kilometres per hour.

An alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Rajasthan on March 28, with warnings of wind gusts reaching speeds of 40 kilometres per hour. The Meteorological Department has also forecast the likelihood of severe thunderstorms and rain in Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir on March 29 and 30.
Rain Expected Here Too
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), parts of Eastern India—specifically Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha—may experience rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. A rain and thunderstorm alert has been issued for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal for March 27 and 28. On March 27, West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to witness hailstorms along with gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h.
Meanwhile, for Jharkhand, an alert has been issued predicting moderate rainfall, thunder, lightning, and strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–50 km/h on March 25, 27, and 28. The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning for rain and thunderstorms starting on March 26. Additionally, an alert has been issued regarding winds blowing at speeds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rain and storms across most districts of Uttar Pradesh, effective from March 27. Specifically, a storm alert has been issued for the districts of Agra, Auraiya, Mainpuri, Etawah, Firozabad, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Banda, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, and Varanasi.
