Weather Alert: Conditions are changing rapidly across most of the country. Several states have already begun to experience intense heat. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of rainfall in other states. Due to the active influence of a Western Disturbance, rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in certain regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for today—April 17—warning of potential rainfall in several states.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that skies over Delhi will remain cloudy on Friday, and as evening approaches, light drizzle accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur. If it rains, residents of Delhi-NCR could find some relief from the scorching heat.
According to the department, heatwaves and severe heat conditions are likely in parts of Central, Eastern, and Peninsular India this week. The department further states that on Friday, maximum temperatures in numerous districts across North India could exceed 40 degrees. Additionally, there is a possibility of heatwaves occurring over the next few days.
Alerts regarding rainfall have been issued for hilly states such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Temperatures are expected to remain pleasant in Shimla and Nainital, while a warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for the northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya.
Weather Set to Change
According to the Meteorological Department, the first system associated with the Western Disturbance is expected to arrive between April 16 and April 17. A subsequent system is likely to arrive between April 18 and April 19. Consequently, rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in several states due to the influence of this Western Disturbance.
