Delhi Weather Update: Delhi-NCR residents may finally get some relief from the sultry heat as the weather changed again on Sunday (May 10) evening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), many parts of Delhi and the surrounding NCR region are expected to experience cloudy skies, light rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds. A yellow alert has been issued for several districts in the national capital.

This sudden change in weather comes after days of sweltering heat and rising temperatures in the city. The IMD has warned that strong winds and lightning may disrupt traffic during the evening and night.

Delhi Weather Today: IMD Issues Yellow Alert

According to the latest weather bulletin, several areas, including North Delhi, Northeast Delhi, Northwest Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, Southwest Delhi, and Southeast Delhi, are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain.

New Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram are also expected to experience similar weather. Wind speeds during the storm could reach 40 to 50 kmph.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to be vigilant against lightning and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms. Rain and strong winds may cause traffic disruptions in some parts of Delhi-NCR.

Delhi Weather Update: Temperatures may remain between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius

Despite the possibility of rain, Delhi is expected to remain hot during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may hover around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius.

However, light rain and strong winds in the evening are expected to provide some relief from the humid weather. Temperatures may drop slightly in the evening and night.

The Climate Change Office has also predicted a gradual increase in temperatures over the next two days, followed by a further decline later in the week.

Rainfall will continue to bring relief to Delhi for the next few days.

The weather is likely to change in the coming days. On May 12th, light rain and thundershowers are expected in areas around Mungeshpur, Najafgarh, and Palam, especially during the afternoon and evening. Wind speeds could once again reach 50 kmph.

On May 13th, the sky is expected to remain cloudy, with a chance of thunderstorms in the morning. However, the weather will gradually clear up on May 14th and 15th.

With the clear skies, temperatures in Delhi may once again see a rise of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, bringing back the intense heat across the region.
