LPG Cylinder Price Today: LPG Cylinder Price Hiked by Rs 29, Check New Rates

LPG Cylinder Price Today: What was anticipated has finally happened. Indian petroleum companies have hiked the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, a move that will directly impact consumers’ pockets. Prices have been raised by ₹29, with the new rates coming into effect on the morning of June 7.

This marks the second hike in domestic cylinder prices in the last three months. The increase is attributed to tensions in the Middle East resulting from the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran. Commercial cylinder prices had previously been raised on June 1. Below are details on the cost of purchasing a domestic cylinder.

Cost of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi

You will now have to spend more to purchase an LPG cylinder following the price hike. According to the news agency PTI, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from ₹913 to ₹942, effective June 7. Before this, a ₹60 per-cylinder hike was recorded on March 7.

The conflict in West Asia disrupted global energy supplies and drove up international fuel prices. Industry sources argue that the previous hike only partially offset the losses incurred on domestic LPG sales.

Commercial cylinders also became costlier in June.

Did you know that the price of commercial gas cylinders was also raised on June 1? In the capital, Delhi, the price of a commercial cylinder increased by ₹42, bringing the cost to ₹3,113.50. Additionally, the price in Kolkata rose by ₹53.50 to reach ₹3,255.50.

Furthermore, the price of the 5 kg FTL cylinder—used by small traders and citizens—was increased by ₹11. In Delhi, this smaller cylinder is now available at the new rate of ₹821.50.

Petrol and Diesel Prices Have Also Risen

It is worth noting that, alongside LPG, the prices of petrol and diesel are also on the rise. Since May, there has been a cumulative increase of ₹7.50 per litre in petrol and diesel prices. Meanwhile, CNG rates have seen a hike of approximately ₹6 per kilogram.

According to industry sources, despite the recent hikes, oil companies are selling petrol and diesel at prices below cost, resulting in a loss of approximately ₹11 per litre on petrol and ₹33.6 per litre on diesel.
