Important news for PhonePe users. The payment app will soon see a major change. The company has updated its wallet guidelines, which means you may have to pay ₹100 if you stop using your wallet for an extended period.
The company recently updated its wallet guidelines, under which if a PhonePe user does not use their PhonePe Wallet for 365 days, they will be charged an inactivity maintenance fee of ₹100.
Many people have expressed their displeasure over PhonePe’s new guidelines, and many have posted about them on social media.
An account named @yabhishekhd on the X platform (formerly Twitter) pointed out that many users don’t use the PhonePe Wallet and make UPI payments directly from their bank accounts. Some people said that charging for a feature that people don’t use is unfair.
Who will be charged a fee of Rs 100?
The ₹100 fee will only apply to those who haven’t made any transactions using their PhonePe Wallet for a year. Simply opening the PhonePe app or making a payment via UPI will not be considered a wallet activity. To avoid the fee, users must complete at least one transaction through the wallet to be considered reactivated.
Alert message will come 15 days in advance
Like PhonePe, users will receive a 15-day message before the fee is deducted. If there is a balance in the wallet, the company will deduct ₹100 directly. However, if the wallet balance is less than ₹100, the full amount will be deducted. However, the balance will not go negative.
