Bank Holiday- Banks to Remain Closed Today, Know the Reason 

Bank Holiday: There is a mega update for bank customers. Banks will be shut today Saturday, August 22nd, as it is the fourth Saturday when bank branches are not operational, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) schedule. On this day, the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of the month, banks function as usual.

If you have any urgent banking tasks to take care of, please be aware that the physical bank branches will be closed. However, digital services such as UPI, net banking, mobile banking, and ATMs will continue to be available. Here is a list of upcoming bank closure dates for the month of August:

– August 22 – Saturday: Banks nationwide will be closed.

– August 23 – Sunday: Weekly holiday, banks closed.

– August 25 – Tuesday: Closure in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh due to Milad-un-Nabi – Eid-e-Milad and Prathama Onam.

– August 26 – Wednesday: Closure in various cities for local festivals.

– August 28 – Friday: Closure in multiple states due to Raksha Bandhan, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti, Ayyankali Jayanti, and Pang-Lhabsol.

 

September Bank Holidays 2026

As per the RBI schedule, September kicks off with a holiday on September 4th for Sri Krishna Janmashtami (Vaishnavism), followed by another holiday on September 12th for Srimanta Sankardev’s Tirubhav tithi in Assam.

On September 14th, several states will observe a holiday due to festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Puja, Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrat, Vinayak Chaturthi, and Hartalika. The subsequent day, September 15th, will be a holiday for Samvatsari, Nuakhai, and the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi, with banks closed in Gujarat, Goa, and Odisha.

Later in the month, various states will have holidays for the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev and Sri Narayana Guru Samadhi on September 21, Karma Puja on September 22, and Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birthday on September 23. September 25 will also be a holiday for Indrajatra.

So, in September, holidays will fall on 4, 12, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, and 25 due to different festivals and regional events.

Even though physical bank branches will be closed, online services are accessible round the clock. Internet banking, mobile applications, UPI, and ATMs all function smoothly. You can conveniently carry out essential transactions even on holidays.
