Heavy Rain Alert: IMD has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in more than 25 states and union territories of the country for August 6. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert and follow the advice of the administration.

Heavy Rain Alert: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather forecast across the country for August 6. According to the report of the Meteorological Department, torrential rains are going to continue due to monsoon activities from north to south and from east to west of the country. IMD has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in more than 25 states and union territories of the country.

Warning of extremely heavy rain in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be extremely heavy rain in many areas of the country on August 6. There is a possibility of heavy waterlogging and landslides in the plains and coastal areas as well as in the hilly areas. Especially in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra and Kerala and different parts of Mahe, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rains. Local administration and citizens in the affected areas of these states have been advised to remain vigilant.

Condition of plain states including Delhi-NCR, UP and Bihar

Monsoon clouds will rain heavily in the plains of North and Central India. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh as well as in isolated parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, torrential rains with cloud movement are also expected in Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan. Talking about Eastern and North-Eastern India, heavy rains can also be recorded in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. At the same time, there is a possibility of torrential rain in South India’s Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Threat of thunderstorm with speed of 60 km/hr in Andaman and Nicobar

The marine weather is going to be quite aggressive in coastal and island areas. Torrential rains with gale force winds speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected at isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Meteorological Department has instructed people living in the island area and fishermen to stay away from beaches and open areas and exercise special caution.

Stormy winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km/hour.

Along with rain, lightning and strong winds are expected in South India and island areas. Strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour may occur along with lightning in isolated parts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Lightning alert with winds of 30 to 40 km/hour in many states

The impact of the storm will also be seen in many other parts of the central, east and south-west of the country. There is a possibility of wind speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour along with lightning in different areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal and Sikkim and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh.

Thunderstorm warning in these hilly and north-eastern states

The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert regarding lightning only in the hilly and north-eastern states. There is a possibility of thunder and lightning in different areas of Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. IMD has appealed to the citizens of all these states to stay in safe places during bad weather.
