A significant event will take place at Talkatora Stadium, where 2,500 women will receive their installment.
The Delhi government is hosting a major event at Talkatora Stadium to launch the first installment of this scheme. The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. on August 26th, with approximately 2,500 women symbolically receiving their first installment during this special occasion. It’s important to note that the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana became effective on August 1st, and over 600,000 women have registered for the program so far.
Understanding the breakdown of the Rs 2500: Rules for bank accounts and FD/RD
Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, eligible women will receive financial support of Rs 2,500 each month. This assistance will start being deposited into beneficiaries’ bank accounts from September 1st. However, the full Rs 2,500 will not be transferred directly to the account. By default, Rs 1,500 of the ₹Rs 2,500 will be placed into the beneficiary woman’s RD or fixed deposit account. The remaining Rs 1,000 will be sent to the beneficiary’s bank account linked to the Central Bank’s digital currency wallet. The amounts deposited in RD or FD will have a lock-in period until July 31, 2029.
If a beneficiary woman prefers, she can opt to deposit the entire Rs 2500 into FD or RD, which will also be subject to the same lock-in period.
