Pension Rules: OFB Employees Get New Option, Check Details

Pension Rules: Big news for pensioners. The government has introduced a new provision for workers of the former Ordnance Factory Board. Employees who choose not to be absorbed into the DPSU can remain on deemed deputation until they retire. Workers will have the opportunity to continue their employment in the relevant DPSU created from the conversion of production units.

This arrangement does not extend to employees of Ordnance Factory Schools and Hospitals. No deputation allowance will be granted during the deemed deputation period. The Central Civil Services (Pension) Amendment Rules, 2026 are now in effect following the notification.

Option for deemed deputation: Employees who choose not to be absorbed into the newly established DPSU are now clearly allowed to remain on ‘deemed deputation’ until they reach retirement age.

Foreign Service Conditions: These employees will have the opportunity to continue their roles in the respective DPSUs that were created following the transformation of Ordnance Factories under ‘Foreign Service’ conditions.

No deputation allowance will be provided: It’s important to highlight that no additional deputation allowance will be granted to employees during the entire deemed deputation period.

Exclusion for school and hospital staff: This new pension rule provision will not apply to those working in Ordnance Factory Schools (OF Schools) and Ordnance Factory Hospitals (OF Hospitals).

When did the rules take effect? This notification, released by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, was published in the Official Gazette on September 2, 2026. These new regulations came into force on that date, with the government making necessary changes to Rule 37 of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021.
