Ration Card Alert – Whose ration cards will be suspended, Check Now

Ration Card News: If you are a ration card holder, this news could be very important for you. Please note that if you have not collected your ration from the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the last six months, your ration card will be deactivated starting October 1.

The government is monitoring these cardholders, classified as “silent cardholders.” Following a meeting held in Delhi by the Union Department of Food and Public Distribution, the Jharkhand government has decided to take strict measures. Cardholders have been given a final opportunity; here are the details.

Know the deadline for the final opportunity

Cardholders have been given until September 21, 2026, to keep their ration cards active. Before this deadline, they must visit their local dealer to collect their pending ration. If they do so, their ration card will remain active. If they fail to collect the ration by September 21, ration supplies will stop on October 1.

Government strict on misuse of schemes

Investigations have revealed that many people have used their ration cards not just for free rations, but to avail benefits from other government schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Maiya Samman Yojana, without actually collecting rations from the shop for months. The government is preparing to identify such “fake” or “paper-only” beneficiaries and permanently deactivate their ration cards so that the truly needy can receive their entitlements.

Three-month window for e-KYC

According to a gazette notification issued by the Union Ministry, individuals whose ration cards are blocked on October 1 will be granted a three-month grace period. A special drive will run from October 1 to January 1, 2027, during which officials will conduct ground-level verification. Cardholders can complete their e-KYC process during this period.
