Aadhar Card Rules: Get the Aadhar Card of children of this age updated immediately or else it will be blocked, know the new government rules

UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India has clearly warned that if a child’s Aadhaar has been made before the age of 5 years and the biometrics are not updated in it for 7 years, then Aadhaar may be closed.

Aadhar Card: In India, Aadhar card has become the most important identity document for people of all ages. Now a big update related to Aadhar of children has come to light. UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India has clearly warned that if a child’s Aadhar is made before the age of 5 years and biometrics are not updated in it for 7 years, then Aadhar may be closed.

Actually, Aadhar of small children is made only on the basis of name, date of birth, address and photo, because at that age their biometric identity fingerprint and iris are not fully developed. This is the reason why UIDAI has made Aadhar update mandatory at the age of 5 and 15 years. If this is not done on time, the child may face difficulty in school admission, exam, scholarship or any government scheme.

Update of 17 crore children pending

According to UIDAI, the Aadhaar of about 17 crore children in the country is yet to be updated. UIDAI has taken several steps to expedite this work. Aadhaar update camps are being organized in schools, the list of children is being prepared on the UDISE+ platform and constant reminders are being sent to parents through SMS.

When and how will you get free update?

Biometric update of children is absolutely free between the ages of 5 and 7 years. If parents get the Aadhaar of the child updated in this period, then they will not have to pay any fee. But after completion of 7 years of age, a fee of Rs 100 will have to be paid for updating. If the update facility is not available in the school, then parents can get this work done by visiting any nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Register Enrollment Center.

Necessary documents

To get the update done, first go to the UIDAI website and choose the option of Locate an Enrolment Center. Here you will get information about the nearest center by entering the State or PIN Code. Then the parents will have to take the child’s birth certificate, school ID or other valid identity card and their Aadhaar card with them. Based on these, the child’s photo, fingerprint and iris scan will be updated.

This step of UIDAI is very important for children to avoid any kind of problem in the future. Parents should get their children’s Aadhaar updated in time, so that there is no problem in any facility from school to scholarship and government schemes.
