Birth Certificate: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has changed the registration numbers of birth certificates issued between 2012 and 2022. The old certificates are now invalid, so people will have to download new ones.
Birth Certificate: If a family member’s birth certificate was issued by the East, North, or South Municipal Corporations between 2012 and 2022, you will need to download it again. The old birth certificates have now become invalid. The MCD has changed their serial numbers.
Now, only birth and death certificates issued with the new numbers will be considered valid by the MCD. The new record will replace the old one on the website. Therefore, whether you have submitted a birth certificate for insurance, school, or other purposes, download and submit the new one. The updated certificate will now be valid in place of the birth certificate issued under the previous municipal corporations. It will also be displayed on the MCD website.
Changes in Birth Certificates Issued in Ten Years
According to the MCD, there were three municipal corporations in Delhi from 2012 to 2022. In 2022, the central government reorganized the three corporations into the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. According to the corporation, the Eastern, Northern and Southern Corporations were from 2012 to 2022.
Until 2020, the corporations operated their respective portals through a private IT company, but in 2020, the corporations handed over this work to the National Informatics Center (NIC). The NIC launched a single portal for all three corporations.
Applications rejected due to three registrations using the same number
There have been complaints that the computer has issued three birth certificates for different people using the same registration number. This has led to the rejection of birth certificates, especially for those seeking admission under the EWS category, when birth certificates are verified.
To address this problem, the corporation has assigned separate numbers to birth certificates issued under the previous corporations. The new registration numbers have been replaced by “E” for the East Corporation, while the North Corporation’s birth certificates have been replaced by “N” for the registration number. The corporation has also removed records of old registrations from the website.
MCD officials have advised that most of the changes have been made in the birth and death certificates issued from 2020 to 2022, but people are advised to re-verify their old birth certificates issued from 2012 to 2022 and if there is any change in the registration, then download a new one for free. Around nine lakh registrations took place from 2020 to 2022. Of these, around 95 percent registrations are from MCD area. The remaining five percent each are from NDMC and Delhi Cantt areas.

Upon logging in, you can download the birth certificate from the dashboard by entering the OTP. If the birth certificate is not displayed on the dashboard, you can download it by entering the details in the search box for old records.
