3.53 lakh cooks preparing mid-day meals in Uttar Pradesh will now get an honorarium of Rs 3000 every month. Along with this, the state government has also abolished the requirement of age difference of children for maternity leave.
Lucknow: Approximately 3.53 lakh cooks preparing mid-day meals in the state’s basic schools will now receive a monthly honorarium of Rs. 3,000 instead of Rs. 2,000. The UP Cabinet made this decision by circulation on Saturday, following which a government order was issued. Six additional proposals were also approved. Under this, the state government has also removed the age difference requirement for maternity leave.
Changes in Maternity Leave Rules
Until now, a two-year age difference between the two children was required for maternity leave. Recently, the Allahabad High Court, while hearing a petition from a female employee, declared this unjustified. The petition stated that maternity leave was rejected solely on the grounds that the two children did not have a two-year age difference. Following this, the court granted the employee’s maternity leave and ordered her to receive all the resulting benefits. Following this, the government has amended the rules.
The state government will provide the increased amount.
There are 141,703 government and aided schools in the state up to grade eight. In these schools, 14,696,104 children receive mid-day meals. A total of 353,536 cooks are employed. They currently receive a monthly honorarium of ₹2,000. The central government contributes ₹600 and the state government contributes ₹1,400. Now, the state government will provide an additional ₹1,000 per month. This will result in a monthly honorarium of ₹3,000. The uniform allowance of ₹500 per year will continue as before.

The Panchkosi Parikrama Marg in Ayodhya will be widened to four lanes. A new estimate for this was also approved.
Revenue Department land will be leased free of charge to the Transport Corporation for the construction of bus stations in Nawabganj, Bareilly, and Jahangirabad, Bulandshahr.
Stamp duty and registration fees will be waived for the transfer of land belonging to the defunct spinning mills of the UP State Spinning Company, UP Cooperative Spinning Mills Association Kanpur, and UP State Yarn Company Limited, under the Taxfed Group, to UPCDA.
The State Finance Commission will bear the cost of the 3 crore flags installed in rural areas and 1 crore flags installed in urban areas under the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.
The adjournment of the monsoon session of the Legislature, scheduled from August 3 to 5, was also approved.
