Hariyali Amavasya 2026: On the day of Hariyali Amavasya, special rituals are performed for the peace and salvation of the souls of ancestors. Hariyali Amavasya 2026: Today is Hariyali Amavasya. The Amavasya date of Krishna Paksha of Saavan month is called Hariyali Amavasya. In Hindu religion, this day is considered dedicated to nature, ancestors and Lord Shiva. Bathing, charity, planting trees and offering to ancestors on this day have special religious significance.

The auspicious time for bathing and donation will be from 4.23 am to 5.06 am.
Importance of Hariyali Amavasya
Planting a tree on Hariyali Amavasya is considered very auspicious. Planting Peepal, Banyan, Neem, Amla, Tulsi or Belpatra saplings on this day provides abode to the Gods and gives inexhaustible virtues. This day is considered special for the peace of ancestors. By offering Tarpan and Pind Daan after bathing in holy rivers, the ancestors are pleased and happiness and prosperity remain in the family.
Being the new moon day of Sawan, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on this day. Married women also observe fast on this day for their unbroken good fortune and happy family life.
Hariyali Amavasya Pujan Vidhi
On this day, take bath in any holy river or lake during Brahma Muhurta or take bath at home by mixing Ganga water. Then, offer Arghya to the Sun God and offer water, sesame seeds and flowers to your ancestors. Offer water, milk, belpatra, datura and akshat to Lord Shiva and chant Om Namah Shivay. After the puja, plant at least one plant as per your choice or need and donate food, clothes or fruits to the poor.
