– The Cabinet meeting approved three multi-tracking projects of the Railway Ministry, with a total cost of Rs 10,783 crore.
– These projects will involve constructing a fourth line between the Kharagpur-Jharsuguda section and the Katni-Pendra Road section, as well as a third line between the Bilaspur (Uslapur)-Pendra Road section.
– The projects will cover 14 districts across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, adding around 656 kilometers to the Indian Railways network.
– The aim is to enhance rail connectivity for about 4,790 villages and approximately 5.6 million residents.
– Additionally, these projects will improve access to key tourist destinations and facilitate the transportation of goods like coal, cement, iron, and steel.
– The capacity boost is expected to handle an extra 27 million tons of freight annually, leading to environmental benefits such as reducing oil imports by 120 million liters and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 620 million kilograms.
Regarding the DA for central government employees:

– It is speculated that a cabinet meeting may be held during Navratri in October to determine the DA.
